- McNab Ridge Winery: A Parducci Legacy
A story as remarkable as its history is long, the Parducci family’s journey in the wine industry began in the early 1900s and continues today where they are currently partners in McNab Ridge Winery. Located in Hopland California, McNab Ridge’s charming tasting room attracts visitors, friends, and serious wine connoisseurs from all over the United States interested in sampling their celebrated selection of wine. While McNab shares many commonalties with other small family wineries, what sets them apart is their legacy in winemaking. On a cool spring day earlier this year, Winestyleliving.com sat down with head winemaker and McNab Ridge business partner, Rich Parducci to discuss his family’s history in winemaking and how he is carrying on the Parducci tradition as a 4th generation winemaker. The Parducci Family first became involved in the wine industry when Rich’s great-grandfather purchased land in Mendocino County to begin growing grapes to sell to home winemakers across the country during the era of prohibition. Saturday, August 7, 2010 the new owners of Campovida unveiled their vision of the former Fetzer Valley Oaks property, now renamed Campovida. Also located on the property is the Magnanimus Wine group. Our family has a history with the former property. We used to drive over the hill to visit the beautiful gardens and enjoy the lush grounds. Our first family portrait when we moved to California was captured there. It was one of our favorite places to visit. When the property closed, it was a personal loss to us. It was with great anticipation that we visited the newly re-opened property on Saturday. The grounds are well on their way to being restored to their former glory. The tasting room was still empty, with the exception of a few art prints and the wine bar, even then it was exciting to see the doors open again. The wine was paired with Thai cuisine. The tour of the grounds was [...] - Lake County Wine Adventure 2010 Video
- Wine Adventure Weekend 2010
Last Saturday & Sunday, July 24th and 25th, Lake County wineries welcomed upwards of 2000 people through their doors. The heat was turned up, which made the relief of the tasting rooms so much sweeter. And each winery delivered a different experience in wine, food and ambience. The only thing that was consistent was the knowledgeable and friendly owners, winemakers and staff. The drive around the lake to each winery proved to be an excellent experience all by itself with the variety of views of the lake, then the mountains, to the drives through the vineyards and across the ranches. If you haven’t made plans to attend next year, this is a good time to take a moment and make those plans. Please enjoy the image that I captured of the day. Lake County has a reputation for offering hidden treasures and experiences to its community and visitors; however, just when you think you’ve seen everything this phenomenal area has to offer, something new and incredible is uncovered that makes you realize you haven’t seen anything yet. On a beautiful day in early March, I took a trip to an area I was familiar with, but had never had the pleasure of visiting. I knew that High Valley was a special region for growing wine grapes, but it wasn’t until I met Dustin, who owns High Valley Vineyards with his wife, Bobbie, and took a tour of this unique valley with him, that I learned how much more the valley has to offer beyond spectacular views. On my drive up to High Valley I was eager to learn more about this region and how exactly it was conducive to grape growing. Even more so, I was curious to discover what led Dustin [...]
