Fall Hopland Passport 2011- 5) McDowell Winery
The McDowell Tasting Room is located in a rustic building that looks like an old barn located in the middle of Hopland. They close the practically one lane street on the South side of their building to serve an authentic Mexican spread of tamales, soft flour tacos and some very tasty brownies. McDowell tasting room is decorated suitably western, from the door stop as you walk in, to the barn wood décor. They have one of the largest wine bars in the shape of a horseshoe and though their space isn’t small it, too, was crowded on the Hopland Passport weekend. The always friendly staff greeted their guests with an open bottle of wine and great conversation. They are definitely the most rustic and “down home” wineries in Hopland.
