Fall Hopland Passport 2011- 8) Parducci
The Solar Living Center is a breathtaking property. Their goal is to create a sustainable demonstration project so people can some there to learn to live off the grid by taking classes, touring the property and they can purchase all the necessary items to do that from their store. It is attention getting to visit there and see all they have done.
Sharing their space is Parducci Winery. Parducci has won awards for producing sustainably grown wines in an environmentally sensitive way; this partnership is a good fit. Outside in the pavilion area they were serving their food pairings, though to be honest, the only thing I remember was the guy that was serving the oysters. He was shucking them as they were being served, it was kinda cool to watch him.
Inside the store against the back wall Parducci created a beautiful bar with impressive craftsmanship. Parducci introduced a new wine label that is their line up called Wines That Rock. They pair a wine blend with a rock album and then reproduce the album label on the wine bottle. They have done The Rolling Stones, Woodstock, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, and The Police. A really fun project. For dessert Parducci served chocolate shots, their chocolate sauce mixed with a zinfandel wine. Rock On Parducci, Rock On.
