Hidden Wine Country

Oct 8, 2010 by

I was down in the Napa Valley today, and I was again reminded how lucky we are to live in a beautiful valley with a gorgeous lake — and some of the best wineries in the world.

I wish I had grabbed my camera- or my camcorder because the traffic was unbelievable. It took us 30 minutes to drive three miles- with limos full of wine drinkers, and bumper to bumper traffic. We didn’t even stop for a burger like we were going to because it seemed unthinkable to battle the traffic to get back on the road.

As I inched my way through the notorious wine country, we passed a sign that said Lakeport 63 miles and all I could think was that those 63 miles would be worth the trip, just to miss out on the traffic. The bonus of the drive is that visitors have a chance to meet some of the real people that grow grapes and make wine, right in the tasting room.
